Anodes vary by shaft diameter, propeller, drive system, mounting pattern, and vessel configuration. Customers should confirm and supply the correct replacement zincs before the appointment. Some sail-drive and stern-drive anodes cannot be safely or correctly replaced underwater and may need to wait until the vessel is hauled.
When should zincs be visually inspected?
Check anodes on a regular schedule and whenever performance changes, corrosion is suspected, shore-power conditions change, or the boat moves between marinas. Water chemistry and nearby electrical activity can affect consumption rates, so past lifespan is useful context but not a guarantee.
